The SEMINAR OF THESIS AND DISSERTATIONSSETEDI, from the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies (PPGEL) of the Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG), aims to create virtual spaces for discussion and meetings between students and teachers of Language Studies, in order to exchange research experiences at the master's and doctoral level. SETEDI also seeks to disseminate, spread and publicize academic productions and promote debates with the university community, as it understands that the sharing of knowledge between invited researchers (national and foreign) and students, in the process of writing their dissertation and thesis, is an opportunity of great positive impact in the academic background of these researchers.

With this in mind, the event will bring together, on the one hand, professors committed to academic research and, on the other, students who are living a determinant experience in their professional careers: the process of writing and submitting a dissertation text to an evaluation board. In addition, at SETEDI, students will have the opportunity to publicly expose their work before official assessments (qualification and defense) and to learn about the work of their colleagues and other researchers, creating and strengthening research partnerships.

SETEDI also proposes bringing current PPGEL students and alumni together, enabling these (many teachers of Basic Education and Higher Education in different institutions) to present their dissertations already concluded, disseminating researches carried out over the 10 years of existence of this Postgraduate Program, initially called Master in Language, Identity and Subjectivity (2010). In addition to creating spaces for theoretical and practical discussion in the field of Language Studies, SETEDI 2020 also proposes that UEPG’s professors and students dialogue with the external community, mainly foreign researchers, Basic Education teachers and Higher Education professors, establishing exchange of information and experiences among the various subjects that build the scientific knowledge in the academic community in the areas of Education, Extension and Research.

The SETEDI 2020, as a remote and free event, has as target audience, in addition to the graduate students who are in academic writing process, the undergraduate students, wishing to be a part of the masters, believing that the various discussions and activities of the event can collaborate in their theoretical-methodological choices at the time of their research project construction, in addition to bringing them closer to PPGEL professors, knowing the lines of research and the thematic possibilities of investigation .

In particular, in 2020, the IV edition of SETEDI aims to promote and discuss the internationalization of Language Studies. Therefore, respecting the social distance imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, it welcomes foreign researchers (masters, doctors, masters and doctoral students), in addition to works by Brazilians presented in foreign or indigenous language. We believe that among national and international institutions of higher education experience of dialogue can be very significant to the formation of these researchers, promoting academic and culture exchange.

That being said, in partnership with the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Contemporary Iberian Worlds (CRIMIC) from Sorbonne Université (France), SETEDI 2020 will also host in its program a thematic event in honor of the 100 years of the birth of the writer Clarice Lispector: INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM DEVIRES CLARICEANOS, with roundtables conferences with national and international researchers discussing about the intense life and literary work of this so significant author for Brazilian and worldwide literature. This partnership between PPGEL and CRIMIC also extends to graduate students and other researchers linked to Sorbonne Université and other foreign universities, which wish to present their dissertations and theses, completed or still in progress.

100 years of Clarice Lispector, 10 years of the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies: many reasons to celebrate. For this reason, the IV SETEDI – the first international edition of the seminar – intends to resume, strengthen and initiate new research ties, promote academic and cultural exchanges, in addition to disseminating and spreading, through the publication of expanded abstracts and scientific articles, dissertations and theses developed in Language Studies area from UEPG, Sorbonne and other foreign institutions of higher education.
